HOW TO SEO-OPTIMIZE YOUR WEBSITE
SEO is very important to have in mind when creating and managing a website but it can be difficult to keep an overview of how optimized a website is. To help you keep track of your SEO, the Editor has a built-in SEO checker that quickly provides you an overview of your website's SEO.
1. THE SEO DASHBOARD
You'll find the SEO checker with an SEO score on the Home tab to the left of your visitor stats. The SEO checker gives you an overview of your website's SEO score in percent. The score is based on how much SEO-relevant information you've included on your website. The calculation factors in whether you've included the following items of information throughout your website:
H1 (on every page)
Alt text (alternative text)
The SEO checker tells you where you're missing SEO-related information, such as the type of information missing, on which page, and if you're missing alt text on specific images.
2. MISSING SEO INFORMATION
The Build section also contains an integrated SEO check which helps you identify where your website is missing SEO information, but only on page level. The yellow "I" icon next to a page name indicates that some SEO information has not yet been inputted. Hover the yellow icon to see what type of information is missing on the specific page.
3. HOW TO ADD SEO
3.1 PAGE TITLE, KEYWORDS AND DESCRIPTION
Under Page Settings > Content, you'll find a dedicated SEO section. This section includes page title, page keywords and page description which are important components when SEO-optimizing your website. To achieve a high SEO score, fill in all components in the SEO section on all pages of your website.
To further improve your SEO score, it's important to include a H1 tag on all pages. If you're missing a H1 tag on a page, the yellow "I" icon will appear on the specific page. Note: avoid using more than one H1 tag on each page.
3.3 IMAGE ALT TEXT
Image alt text (alternative text) should be added to all images included on your website. If you forget to add alt text on an image, the SEO checker on your dashboard will "warn" you and the yellow "I" icon will appear on the page where the image is included. The features in the Editor where images are included are:
Image List Module
There are different ways of adding alt text on images in the Editor depending on where on your website they are used. You always have the option of adding alt text on images in File Manager. When doing so, the alt text will be included every time the image is used on your website.
For images used in modules such as Image and Image List, you have the possibility to add the alt text directly in the module. For images used in the Gallery module, you can either add alt text to gallery images in Global Data > Gallery or in File Manager. For images used on E-Commerce and Blog, you're able to add alt text directly on the image when you upload it.
Note: The SEO score only quantifies whether you have included the relevant SEO information throughout your website or not. It doesn't analyze the quality of the information.
